Background
The ICT in Schools Taskforce provides strategic advice to The Le@rning Federation Initiative on issues including the development of the technical standards, interoperability standards, metadata standards and the learning exchange architecture development.
The Le@rning Federation is an initiative of State and Federal governments of Australia and New Zealand. On January 29 2001,
$34.1 million
dollars over 5 years was made available through the Commonwealth Government's release of Backing Australia's Ability, with
states and territories agreeing to match this amount at the July 2001 MCEETYA meeting. New Zealand has joined the Initiative
from 2003-03 providing a further $4.86 to the available funds.
Over the period 2001-2006 the Initiative aims to develop online interactive curriculum content specifically for Australian and New Zealand schools. The Initiative will support teachers in enhancing student learning thereby greatly improving educational outcomes for students.
